Washington, D.C. — Chick-fil-A is kicking off a yearlong celebration for its 80th anniversary, unveiling new menu additions, nostalgic packaging, collectible merchandise, and a nationwide sweepstakes that could score some customers free food for an entire year.
The fast-food chain announced that its anniversary campaign, called “Newstalgia,” officially launches Monday, January 5, blending retro-inspired elements with new offerings designed to celebrate the brand’s long history and loyal fan base.
New drinks join the permanent menu
As part of the anniversary launch, Chick-fil-A is adding Frosted Sodas and Floats to its permanent menu nationwide.
The new drinks are made using the brand’s signature Icedream frozen dairy dessert:
- Frosted Sodas combine Icedream with a customer’s choice of fountain drink
- Floats offer a more classic dessert option, pairing soda with Icedream
Both new items will remain on the permanent menu, rather than being limited-time offerings.
Company leaders say the additions are meant to appeal to longtime fans while attracting new customers looking for dessert-style beverages.
Retro packaging and collectible cups roll out nationwide
Customers will also notice a throwback look at participating locations. Chick-fil-A is introducing limited-time retro packaging for its Original Chicken Sandwich, featuring vintage designs pulled directly from the brand’s archives.
In addition, the chain is selling Classic Cups for $3.99, available in four rotating retro designs inspired by past decades of Chick-fil-A branding.
The retro elements are meant to highlight the brand’s history while still feeling fresh and modern, the company said.
3,000 Gold Fan Cups unlock free food for a year
Mixed in among the collectible cups nationwide will be 3,000 Gold Fan Cups, each offering a major prize opportunity.
Customers who receive a Gold Fan Cup can win a year of free Chick-fil-A, which includes 52 free entrées at participating locations.
Eligible entrée options include:
- Original Chicken Sandwich
- Spicy Chicken Sandwich
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich
- 8-count Chick-fil-A Nuggets
Winners can scan a QR code included with the cup to claim their prize.
The sweepstakes will run through July 1, while supplies last.
Brand says anniversary is about memories, not just food
Company leaders say the milestone is about more than promotions.
“This year marks more than an anniversary — it’s a celebration of the memories, meals and meaningful moments that have brought people together at Chick-fil-A for generations,” said Khalilah Cooper, vice president of brand strategy, advertising, and media.
She added that the company plans to deliver experiences that feel new while staying rooted in quality, care, generosity, and hospitality.
Cow-themed merchandise and plush toys return
The brand’s iconic cow mascots are also getting the spotlight.

The collectibles are expected to rotate throughout the year, appealing to both families and longtime fans of the brand’s advertising campaigns.
More menu updates planned later this year
Chick-fil-A has additional updates planned for later in 2026.
Those include:
- Updated Kids Meal offerings
- A new limited-time breakfast item currently being tested in select markets
- The return of Cow Appreciation Day this summer
- A revived Cow Calendar, now featuring a new digital component inside the Chick-fil-A app
What customers can expect overall
New drinks, nostalgic designs, prizes, and familiar mascots will roll out gradually throughout the year as part of the 80th anniversary celebration.
Chick-fil-A says more announcements are expected as the campaign continues, keeping customers engaged well beyond the initial January launch.
