Churchville, PA — Chilling new details have emerged in a Bucks County homicide case in which authorities say a man stabbed his elderly parents to death as they slept, then killed his sister when she discovered their bodies inside the family’s home.
Kevin Castiglia, 55, is facing three counts of criminal homicide, along with multiple additional felony charges, following the discovery of three bodies inside a residence on Heather Road in Churchville. He is currently being held without bail at the Bucks County Jail, according to authorities.
Welfare check turns into violent standoff
The case began unfolding Sunday when the boyfriend of Deborah Castiglia, 53, grew concerned after not hearing from her. According to court documents, he first went to her home but found no sign of her or her vehicle.
He then drove to her parents’ house on Heather Road, where he noticed Deborah’s maroon Kia SUV parked in the driveway. Despite knocking several times, no one answered, and the lights inside were off.
The following afternoon, at approximately 2:10 p.m., the boyfriend returned to the residence. This time, police say the door was answered by Kevin Castiglia.
Knife threat prompts 911 call
Authorities allege Castiglia answered the door wearing a robe and told the boyfriend that Deborah was not home and had likely gone on vacation. The encounter allegedly escalated moments later.
“Don’t ever come here again or I will kill you,” Castiglia allegedly said while pointing a large chef-style knife at the boyfriend.
The boyfriend left immediately and called 911, prompting officers with the Northampton Township Police Department to respond for a well-being check.
Police encounter armed suspect at door
When officers arrived, they say they were confronted by an adult male armed with knives. According to police, Castiglia was holding two knives, with one appearing to have blood on it.
Authorities said Castiglia refused to answer questions about his family and pointed at least one knife toward officers.
Police deployed a stun gun, but investigators say Castiglia removed the probes and retreated back into the house, where he barricaded himself inside.
Five-hour standoff ends with grim discovery
A standoff lasting approximately five hours followed as police attempted to negotiate with Castiglia. Eventually, officers entered the home.
Inside, they found a horrifying scene.
- Fred Castiglia, 90, and Judith Castiglia, 84, were found dead in the master bedroom
- Deborah Castiglia, 53, was found dead in the kitchen
Kevin Castiglia was located inside a second-floor bedroom and taken into custody without further incident.
Suspect allegedly confesses to killings
While being treated at a nearby hospital, Castiglia allegedly made an initial admission to medical staff.
“I hurt someone,” he reportedly told a doctor.
According to court documents, his statements later became more explicit.
“I killed my parents in their sleep,” Castiglia allegedly said. “I killed my sister when she found them.”
Authorities have not publicly detailed the manner or timing of each killing beyond confirming stabbing injuries.
Charges and court proceedings
Castiglia has been charged with:
- Three counts of criminal homicide
- Three counts of abuse of a corpse
- Three counts of recklessly endangering another person

He appeared in court earlier this week and is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing on February 12. Prosecutors have not identified a motive, and investigators say the case remains active.
Community left searching for answers
The violent deaths of three family members inside a quiet neighborhood have left residents shaken. Police have not indicated whether there were prior calls for service at the home or any known history of domestic conflict.
Authorities continue to examine evidence recovered from the scene, including the knives allegedly used in the attacks.
As the legal process moves forward, many questions remain about what led to the deadly escalation and whether warning signs were missed.
