Pueblo, Colorado — Southern Colorado is in line for a noticeable warm-up through the middle of the workweek, with Pueblo expected to see temperatures climb well above recent levels before a late-week weather system brings cooler air and a more seasonable January feel back to the region.
Forecasters say the overall pattern remains quiet, with minimal travel impacts expected, but residents will feel clear temperature swings as the week unfolds.
Dry and Mild Conditions Dominate Early Week
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, dry weather will dominate through Tuesday and Wednesday, allowing temperatures to steadily rise.
Highs in Pueblo are forecast to reach the low to mid-50s, marking the warmest stretch of the week. Sunshine and light winds will help daytime temperatures rebound quickly after chilly mornings.
“Midweek will bring the most favorable conditions for warming,” forecasters noted.
Morning lows during this period will remain cool, generally in the 20s to low 30s, but afternoons will feel noticeably milder compared to recent days.
Snow Cover Playing a Key Role
Meteorologists say existing snow cover is influencing how much warming occurs across southern Colorado.
Areas with limited snow are heating up more efficiently during the day, while snow-covered locations — especially mountain valleys — are warming more slowly. This could lead to noticeable temperature differences across relatively short distances.
“Where snow remains on the ground, temperatures may lag several degrees behind nearby snow-free areas,” forecasters explained.
Weather System Brings Cooler Trend Late Week
Changes arrive by Thursday into Friday, when a passing weather system is expected to move across Colorado.
While this system does not appear particularly strong, it will:
- Knock temperatures back down
- Increase cloud cover
- Introduce a chance for light precipitation
At this time, forecasters say any precipitation looks limited, and no significant snow accumulation is expected at lower elevations, including Pueblo.
Temperatures Slide Back Toward Seasonal Levels
Behind the system, late-week temperatures are expected to trend downward.
Highs are forecast to fall back into the 40s, while overnight lows dip into the 20s to low 30s, restoring a more typical January pattern for southern Colorado.
Winds may increase slightly as the system passes, but no weather advisories are currently in effect.
Minimal Impacts Expected
Forecasters emphasize that the overall setup should result in few if any disruptions, though residents may notice:
- Cooler mornings late week
- Changing temperatures day to day
- Breezier conditions at times
Outdoor workers, early-morning commuters, and students may feel the cooler conditions more noticeably by the end of the week.
