Two Arrested in Florida City After Fatal Home Invasion Robbery Partially Live-Streamed on Facebook

Florida City, Florida — Authorities in South Florida say a deadly home invasion robbery that was partially broadcast live on Facebook has led to the arrests of two suspects, bringing a disturbing case closer to court more than two weeks after the crime.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that two Miami men are now facing multiple serious charges in connection with the incident, which left one victim dead and another seriously injured.

Deadly Robbery Reported Before Sunrise

According to arrest reports, deputies were called to a home in the 1400 block of Northwest Second Avenue during the early morning hours of December 30 following reports of a home invasion.

Investigators say two victims were inside the residence when the suspects forced their way in. Authorities allege the suspects were wearing masks and armed with a firearm when they entered the home.

“The suspects demanded money from the victims during the home invasion,” deputies stated in the arrest documents.

Moments later, one of the suspects allegedly opened fire, shooting both victims.

One Victim Killed, Another Hospitalized

Deputies confirmed that one victim died at the scene as a result of gunshot wounds. The second victim was rushed to a local hospital and later listed in stable condition.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims.

What has drawn widespread attention to the case is the fact that both victims were live-streaming on Facebook during part of the home invasion, according to investigators. Portions of the crime were allegedly broadcast in real time before the violence escalated.

Suspects Identified and Arrested

Investigators identified the suspects as Christopher Hankerson, 36, and Roderick Terrell Everett, 34, both residents of Miami.

Detectives say additional surveillance footage from the area helped advance the case.

“Video shows the suspects arriving at the home in a blue Honda Accord,” investigators noted.

After the robbery and shooting, authorities allege the suspects fled the scene on bicycles stolen from the victims’ home.

Search Warrant Leads to Key Evidence

Last Wednesday, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence linked to Hankerson and Everett. During the search, investigators say they recovered both stolen bicycles, strengthening the case against the suspects.

Detectives also interviewed Hankerson, who allegedly admitted to knowing the victims and being with Everett on the night of the crime. However, authorities say he denied being present at the scene of the shooting.

Serious Charges Filed

Both suspects were taken into custody and now face multiple felony charges, including:

  • First-degree murder / home invasion robbery
  • Attempted murder
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Prosecutors say the charges reflect the violent nature of the crime and the fact that the suspects were allegedly armed during the robbery.

Jail Status and Next Steps

As of Tuesday afternoon:

  • Hankerson was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center
  • Everett was being held at the Metrowest Detention Center

Online jail records list bond status as “to be set” for both men. Court dates have not yet been announced.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

Authorities say the investigation is still active as detectives continue reviewing digital evidence, including social media footage, and gathering additional information related to the case.

“This was a violent and brazen crime that has deeply impacted the community,” investigators said.

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
